Short Script, Sweeper vs. Vacuum

                                                               Midday, In our Home
                                  
                                                        I enter the house to find my son, Tilo,
                                                      sweeping our carpet with a broom 


Me: " Hey son, what'cha doin there?

Tilo: I'm sweeping the floor.

Me:" I can see that. Why aren't you using the vacuum cleaner?"

Tilo: "I don't know. Josh just said to sweep the floor."

Me: "Why on earth would he say that? Is the vacuum cleaner broken?"

Tilo: "I dunno."


                                                 I go to the bedroom to find my husband Josh

Me: "Hun?"

Josh: "Yesss?

Me: "Why did you tell Tilo to sweep the floor?"

Josh: "Cuz, its dirty."

Me: "Why can't he just use the vacuum cleaner?"

Josh: "Why isn't he using it?"

Me: "Because you told him to sweep it."

Josh: "Yes, yes I did. I told him to use the sweeper."

Me: "By sweeper you mean use the...."

Josh: "I mean to use the sweeper and sweep the floor!"

Me: "Now I'm confused!"

Josh: "The sweeper is the vacuum cleaner."

Me: "Seriously? Why would you call it that?"

Josh: "I don't know. That's what my family calls it."

Me: "Oh good grief! Tilo, get the vacuum cleaner and vacuum the floor!"
                                                                         

Sayings I've heard this week

From my Mother-in-law in Florida, "Gooood Lawwrd, tell her to hurray up and have that baby awwready. Mercy me!"

From my cousin in Texas, "Wellll I'll beee, Bless her sweet hearrrt."

From my friend here in South Bend, "Gurl, you so stupid. What'cha doin?" (meaning what I did was really funny and she's cracking up)

From my friend in Louisiana, "Well, that oughta learn ya" (meaning you should learn a lesson from what you just did)

From me, and everyone picks on me for it, "That's naasstyyyy!" , "MmmHmmm." and "Now you know you need some Jesus!" I'm a Texas gurl.

From my husband, who is from Indiana, "We need to sweep this floor." (meaning with a vacuum cleaner) This has caused continual confusion in our home.

One word I always listen for people to say is crayons. Down south we say cray-ons like its spelled. Up here I usually hear people pronounce it like creyins. When I first heard this, I wasn't even sure what people were saying. Soda also seems to be a foreign word up here. I tried to add some to my Papa John's order once and the employee kept telling me about the different sauces they had. He didn't understand what I was saying until I said "what kinds of pop do you have"

This is my Son Tilo and His girlfriend Nicole. I could do a documentary on their experiences of becoming teenage parents.

This is my sister in law, Lynn. She is from the Philippines. I could do a documentary on her Journey to America. What her life was like before and what it is like now.

This is my sister, Tamara. Our Mother passed away from breast cancer. I would like to do a documentary on Breast cancer, early detection and the effects on the patient and their family members.

In this video there are many different camera angles, the composition of the shots continuously changes and they use the background, foreground and middle-ground interchangeably. The song is about a girl that he loves that changes and, as he puts it, she flies away. It starts off in a minor tone being very dark and creepy then it transfers into a major tone and becomes fun and happy. In the beginning the camera starts off low, then tilts up and pans across the top of the room. Next the camera shot pulls you into the video by making it seem as if you are looking through a window at a Japanese dragon out in the court yard. There are many different clean and dirty shots ranging from WS to single head shots. The scenes are nonlinear and jump from one scene to the other rapidly without warning. They use the foreground, background and middle ground in a way that makes you feel like you are being pulled into the room . I enjoy the movement, cool colors, lighting and artistic expression in this video. The whole mise-en-scene makes me feel happy-go-lucky.

The rapper dreams about one day getting out of a struggling lifestyle and doing more for himself. Scenes of Tilo rapping mixed with scenes of him daydreaming about his future. Later showing his dreams turning into his reality and him remembering his past.

Two toddler boys Xander and Jakobi reveal their super powers when the family is in danger of being taken over by the evil dirty diaper orc. The two cause chaos and mayhem in the family but in the end , through trial and error, save the day and recue their family and defeat the orc.

Well I'm doing something I said I would never do....I'm starting a blog. At this point I'm not even sure what to do here sooo, I'll just randomly type some thoughts and answer questions for my class.

1. Favorite movies and music are in my profile. Favorite shows are old sitcoms, NCIS, House, Criminal Minds and The Big Bang Theory, BANG!
2. If I could make any type of media without restrictions...hmmm, I would want what ever it is to make a difference, at least locally.
3. My goals after I graduate are to, at some point, be able to work from home.
4. Why am I interested in making media? I enjoy trying different forms of self expression.
